Ordnance Survey Landranger Maps
The Landranger series are more all-purpose maps using a smaller scale than the Explorer maps (1:50,000, 1¼ inches to 1 mile, 2 cm to 1 km). The benefit of this is that they are printed on one side only. Information on public right of ways, such as footpaths and bridleways, are marked on these maps and there is also more general tourist information on viewpoints, picnic areas and camping sites, and in general, you get a better, broader idea of the countryside that surrounds you.
Each map is available in two editions - the basic paper map, which is fine for route planning, but not as well-suited to the rain and the wind as the Lamfold edition, which is encapsulated in heavy gauge polymer. But the downside of weather resistance is weight (and price!) so the choice is yours.
